The harp
Thoughts

An example of “if they wanted to, they would.” This applies to every situation we encounter on a day-to-day basis.
During boarding, I saw a big instrument in the overhead. I immediately ask whose instrument and what instrument it is. The lady in front of me says it’s a harp and says it’s hers. I said, “Oh cool.” And ask if I could transfer it to the other side.
In the middle of our conversation, I told her I don’t play any instrument and she responded with “It’s very easy. You can learn it.” I just smiled and she said, “I can play harp for you”. I said “Really? That would be amazing!” She smiled and said, “Yes, I will play for you.”
During the first meal service, she was on a video call with her family, and I was able to say hi to them. She told me that her eldest is at a University in Germany, while the second is still studying and plans to study abroad as well. I also just learned that they live in Israel.
During the cruise, I went to her seat to see if she was awake, but she was sleeping, so I didn’t bother her.
After we finished the second meal service, she came to the galley to see if I was available so she could play the harp. We were eating at that time, and I kind of hesitated since it was going to be busy soon.
I finished my food and went back to her. She was talking to someone on the phone and said, “Give me a minute.” I thought it wouldn’t be possible anymore, but she went back to the galley right away and asked me if I could help her get the harp from the overhead compartment. I did, and we went back to the galley.
She took out the instrument from the bag and to my surprise, it was a wooden harp. She said, “This one came from the Philippines; that is why I’m excited to play for you.”
What touches me most is the warmth and thoughtfulness behind it.
She played an Israeli worship song and two other Hillsong songs, while my colleague sang as she continued to play the harp.
After she finished playing, my colleague and I thanked her for sharing her talent with us.
Take note: She is going to Florida for a convention just to play the harp, and we got to experience it firsthand on the flight. How lucky are we, right?
As we said our goodbyes, she told me, “Just call me Glory.”
Light and love, Maveer Lo.
